Southern Stargazer
Species > Southern Stargazer
This is one interesting fish! Not only does it produce electricity behind it's eyes, it lives in the sand and takes in water through its nose, most fish do this through their mouths. Living in the sand, this small fish only has its eyes and mouth visible, lying in wait for its next meal. The specimen below was caught on a hook on Naples Beach the end of March. Notice the beautiful skin pattern.
Then next picture we assume is a juvenile stargazer.
