Miami Dade County Fishing & Dive Sites memory card from florida go fishingMiami-Dade County offers some of the most amazing deep water wrecks and reefs very close to shore. The Gulf Stream runs close to shore and within this current visibility can be 100 feet! Large fish abound along Miami natural reef structures and shipwrecks. This popular area is a sportfishing and diving mecca. Miami-Dade County has many area's with mooring buoys for you to tie up to and fish from. I received confirmation on 12/7/2011 from DERM that you can fish while tied to mooring buoys as long as your boat is under 50'. These buoys are for day use only, on a first come, first serve basis. Biscayne National Park follows state laws for fishing, so it is also OK to fish from mooring buoys within the park except these buoys have a 4 hour limit. Spearfishing is allowed on wrecks but there has been talk about banning spearfishing, so always inquire locally before doing so. Within the Key Biscayne area is a 2 mile square area designated on our charts as icon Key Biscayne Special Zone where spearfishing is Not allowed, but hook & gear fishing is. ALWAYS INQUIRE LOCALLY as to fishing rules for wrecks you intend to fish as rules change frequently.star iconSoutheast Reefs & Shipwrecks
